Ford Focus Theme Song-a-tron Becomes A Viral Success!
There are no perfect formulas when it comes to creating viral campaigns, but it certainly helps to focus on a few things: strong, engaging creative; an easy-to-use interface; and design that's based around giving users something fun to do and share. Our friends at Wunderman were kind enough to provide us with a brilliant concept and some top-of-the-line assets, and it was a pleasure to build out this application for Ford Focus. The idea is simple and rich: users upload a photo or choose from a selection of pre-loaded images, then customize their style. Based on their look, an intelligent system selects one of 25 popular tracks as the user's theme song. Users can then send a video of their tricked-out photo dancing to their song to friends.
And now, we're doubly pleased to announce that the campaign has been a huge success! Since the application launched, almost 500,000 users have joined in the fun. The open rate for send videos is very high, just over 92%, and the pass along rate - a key metric for any viral campaign - is more than 10%. Moreover, users are spending an average of five minutes on the site. This app is a favorite around the office, and it's great to see so many others enjoying it as well.
