Avatar Mahjong Anyone?

Gamers, whether playing the classics or the latest GameCube, PlayStation, or XBox game, have an innate desire to compete--and what better place to test your skills than in the global arena?   Massively Multiplayer Online Games (MMOG’s) have seen explosive growth, but not all of the most successful games feature realistically detailed dreamscapes that keep you in virtual worlds for hours, if not days, at a time.  Casual games, like card games or chess, have also seen tremendous growth online.  One of the most popular games around the globe has a deep and rich tradition of hundreds of years of gameplay...  Mahjong.

Mahjong is a four player game similar to rummy and played with 136 to 152 tiles. It is said to have been developed by the Chinese philosopher Confucius in about 500 BC.  MahjongMania is the world’s only online provider of a scalable, aggregate play and cash-wager version of the game.  When MahjongMania wanted to take the experience to the next level, they turned to Oddcast to offer industry leading avatar technology to operators such as MahjongClub.

With nearly a billion Mahjong players around the world, this application is likely to be as popular as many global multi-player online games!

Back in the day, when you played my personal favorite, Wizards of Wor, if you attained a certain level, you could take a picture of your screen, mail it to Atari, and they would mail you a metal of valor!   While I never actually got one, I'm more than content getting to see my opponent's virtual faces when I clean up at the Mahjong Club.
